Dear Friends,
Hey all. I would like to thank you in advance for your generosity and support. Domestic violence and sexual assault are issues often shunned by society. I have been blessed to have not encountered the latter, but have expierenced domestic violence growing up. I spent three days in a shelter in Streator when I was about eleven. When I stumbled across Mutual Ground on Volunteer Match, I had to give back. Mom and I started giving to Mutual Ground in 2007, instead of exchanging Christmas presents.
I am participating in Walk for Hope to benefit Mutual Ground and help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault regain control of their lives. You can learn more by visiting Mutual Ground's website, www.mutualgroundinc.org. I am proud to be participating in Walk for Hope and I encourage you to support my fundraising effort and the vital work of Mutual Ground by making a tax deductible donation to right here. Donations made on this site are safe and secure. Please be as generous as you can and forward this link onto other who you think may want to help too.
The problems of domestic violence and sexual assault bring devastation and suffering not just to the victims, but their children, their families and the entire community. Victims need a place where they can get support and safety. Mutual Ground, located in Aurora Illinois, is a safety net for these victims while on their journey to becoming survivors.
All services at Mutual Ground are free. While revenue does come from government and foundation grants, there is never enough to go around.
Here are some examples of what your donation could do:
For $13, a baby will be fed for three days.
For $19, a child who is a witness to domestic violence will have art supplies.
For $54, a victim of domestic violence will have two counseling sessions.
For $97, a victim and her family will have a night of shelter.
For $162, a victim of sexual assault will have two sessions of therapy.
Thank you!
