Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
In a moment of madness I signed up to run the Columbus Half-Marathon -- my first race since the "Sport Aid" 10k race I ran, er, 22 years ago. My main goal is to finish before sundown (it starts at 7am), and if I can raise some money for Mid-Ohio Foodbank, that's a tremendous bonus. My wife, Bobbi Jo, coordinated a fundraising effort at her work to raise approximately $20,000 for the Food Bank. I'll be very happy if I can raise a small fraction of that amount!
Some information about Mid-Ohio Foodbank:
Based in Columbus, since 1980 Mid-Ohio Foodbank has provided more than 417 million pounds of food and other grocery products for hungry people in central and eastern Ohio. Mid-Ohio Foodbank keeps the food shelves stocked for a network of more than 530 emergency food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, senior dining centers, day care and after-school enrichment programs.
Mid-Ohio Foodbank is a member of America's Second Harvest, the nation's largest non-governmental, domestic hunger relief organization. As a member, it follows the guidelines put forth by the network and is monitored periodically to ensure that it upholds the highest standards of charitable food distribution.
The Foodbank distributed 29.1 million pounds of food and other grocery products in 2007.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Best,
James
UPDATE 10/19: I completed the half-marathon in 2hrs 3m 34s, my fastest time ever over this distance (ok, my only time ever over this distance)! Thanks again for all your support! This page will remain open for a few more weeks.
