Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
On Sunday, November 8th, I will be participating in Team FORCE (Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered) at the Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Movement Weekend’s Run/Walk in Washington, DC to benefit FORCE’s education, advocacy and awareness programs.
I will be walking for my amazing mom, Elyce Stern, and my wonderful sisters, Rachel Wynn and Melissa Rumbold, to increase our chances of fighting breast and ovarian cancer in our futures. Unfortunately, we have had to face both of these cancers in the past four years and it is my mission to help prevent not only my family, but other families as well, from having to go through the heartache that these cancers cause.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
FORCE is the only national non-profit organization dedicated to individuals and families affected by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. Families with a hereditary predisposition to cancer can face a lifetime risk as high as 90%. Each year, hereditary cancer affects nearly one million individuals in the U.S. alone! FORCE is dedicated to providing the vital information and roadmap to this underserved community.
This event will help support FORCE’s programs which provide much needed education, outreach, advocacy, and support to those touched by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer, and their health care providers.
Now, I will be the one lacing up my sneakers and walking to give individuals affected by hereditary cancer a voice, but I can't accomplish this alone.
I am asking for your support in assisting FORCE’s efforts. In order to compete in this event, I have committed to raise $1,000 for FORCE. Every dollar raised will directly support FORCE’s programs, including:
· Extensive on-line library of resource materials, expert reviewed information, and the largest database of personal experiences from people affected by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer
· Peer–to-Peer Telephone Hotline
· The Annual Joining FORCEs International Conference for individuals and families affected by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. The largest conference of its kind, next year’s conference is scheduled to take place June 24 – 26, 2010 in Orlando, Florida.
· Research collaboration in hereditary cancers with major medical institutions
· Educational brochures and newsletters distributed to individuals and health care providers free of charge
· Chat Rooms and moderated chat sessions
· Over 50 regional outreach groups throughout the U.S.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! Donations are 100% tax deductible.
You will receive a confirmation of your donation by email.
On behalf of my family and FORCE: Facing Our Risk Of Cancer Empowered, thank you very much for your support. I tuly appreciate your generosity.
