Thank you for visiting my Personal Fundraising Page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! I have accepted the CHALLENGE of participating as a member of the Strides for Hope marathon training team to compete in the Big Sur International Marathon in April to raise funds for The Wellness Community. My own personal cancer journey began with a routine Mammogram in June 2002. Small specks on the x-ray indicated the possibilty of cancer and a surgical biopsy was scheduled. Previous lumps had warranted biopsies (benign), but this time I sensed was different. My surgeon confirmed that I needed a complete mastectomy. If you or someone you know has ever been diagnosed with cancer, you know how devastating it is emotionally as well as being physically CHALLENGING! In the medical setting, the emotional ISSUES tend to get pushed aside by the practical and purely medical considerations. The Wellness Community was originally created by a group of cancer survivors and family members who understood how important it is to treat the whole person. The Wellness Community provides all of their services free of charge. This is so important In a time of stress when so many areas of one's life are affected. For me, my support group meeting became the most important night of each week as I listened and shared with others who were unique and yet we each shared many of the same CHALLENGES. Because The Wellness Community made a huge difference in my peace of mind during this time, I want to help make its programs available to more people. After EXPERIENCING the clinical and hospital environments, TWC felt like walking into a warm, comfortable home. I invite you to support me as I raise money to help more people living with cancer and The Wellness Community. I have made a commitment to raise a minimum of $2,500. Your personal contribution will help me reach my goal and support this truly great organization. Will you join me in the challenge? Any amount you can provide will be greatly appreciated. During the race, I will be celebrating my five years of survivorship as well as the many wonderful people I've met through this experience with cancer. I will also be remembering loved ones who fought this disease and are no longer with us. If you would like me to celebrate and remember someone important in your life who has been affected by cancer, send me their name and I will carry it with me during the race. I hope that you will join me in spirit on Sunday, April 27th as I participate at Big Sur in the race. Take a walk or run that day with those you love and celebrate life.
