My personal message:

Hello All!

Thank you so much for coming to my fundraising page.  This site is a simple, secure and efficient way to support the Campaign for Female Education (Camfed) and, of course, African societies.

I will run the New York City marathon on November first in support of Camfed, a fantastic non-profit that supports African women to become better educated.  Camfed is exceptionally well rated by the independent CharityNavigator.org, so you can be all the more confident in their work.

Your support of female education in Africa will help strengthen a core pillar of their local and our global civil society.  Improving female education has an incredibly powerful impact; from reducing the incidence of HIV/AIDS and poverty to strengthening democracy and supporting peace.  The cause of female empowerment was recently recognized as the "paramount moral challenge" of the 21st century by New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof:

"There’s a growing recognition among everyone from the World Bank to the U.S. military’s Joint Chiefs of Staff to aid organizations like CARE that focusing on women and girls is the most effective way to fight global poverty and extremism."

The article explicitly recognizes Camfed (p. 6) and you can find more information about Camfed's work on their website at www.camfed.org.

Thank you so much for your support.  Please forward this site ( firstgiving.org/jcw ) widely to anyone who might also want to support women's empowerment.

Very best,

Jared
