For the 3rd year, I'm running a very special 5k race to benefit the Samaritans organization.  Most likely, you've seen the "Desperate? Call the Samaritans" Banners on bridges or perhaps seen advertisements for their famous hotline on the T.  The Samaritans hotline serves more than 100,000 individuals per year by providing non-judgemental support to those who are depressed or in crisis.  In addition they support families grieving a loved one lost to suicide and do the important work of educating the public to help others in crisis and reduce the stigma associated with suicide.
