My personal message:
Welcome! As many of you know, I've dedicated myself to working as a Special Educator with Inner City youth. For the past year, I've been working at Uphams Corner Charter School in Boston Massachusetts. Our school works with approximately 200 middle school students in grades 5-8. One of the amazing things that we can state is that we have over 30% of the school population receiving some type of Special Education services.

The mission of UCCS is to teach this city's young people how to be active and committed citizens, how to be involved in their community and how to advocate for themselves and what they think is right. These skills are essential to bridge the racial and economic achievement gap that our students face every day. UCCS students come from some of the most diverse and economically challenged neighborhoods in Boston, almost 90% of our students qualify as "low income" according to federal guidelines and over one third are currently receiving special educational services. At UCCS our students learn why academic achievement is important, how to achieve and how to use what they have learned for the benefit of their community. I am proud to work at UCCS and hope that you will consider showing your support for our school, our mission and the work that I do every day, by donating to our Learners and Leaders Campaign.
