HAWS provides shelter, medical aid and adoption services for 6,000 unwanted and abandoned companion pets every year. Our humane education programs educate the community about respect and kindness toward animals. Our SNIP clinic provides low-cost spay/neuter services to low-income families and TNR programs for feral cat colony caretakers.

| My personal message: |
This is Nala. She was deathly ill and is alive today because I took her into my home to foster. Nala sends a special thank you to the staff at the Merton Veterinary Clinic who kindly treated her condition and helped save her life. I fostered her for over two months, feeding her a liquid diet through a stomach tube every 4-6 hours until she recovered. She travels to HAWS each day and has become a regular staff member in the front office; greeting guests, helping the counselors work, and trying to shred faxes as they come through the machine.
Our foster program has helped thousands of animals who aren't yet ready for adoption whether they are abandoned kittens, cats with colds, puppies who are under-socialized, or cats like Nala who needed special care from a special person to help her through a rough patch in her life. Fostering pets requires a lot of time and dedication. We always become attached, but we also know that as soon as one pet moves on, another desperate case will take its place.
With the overwhelming number of animals that come through our shelter every year, we have a continual need for public support to maintain the foster program. You can help by donating money, supplies, or your time.
Please support this program, and support our walk so we can help more pets like Nala find their forever homes!
