Hi Friends,
It's that time of year again. WADDLE TIME!!!
On September 20, 2009, Guardian Angel Basset Rescue is holding their 12th Annual Waddle. The Illinois Waddle is a weekend long celebration of the breed attended annually by over 1,000 bassets and their families. It is Guardian Angel’s primary source of funding.
Jerry and I are very proud to be part of such a great organization. Even our dogs help out. Their job is to play with and train all the foster dogs that pass through our home. (It's a tough job but someone has to do it!). They are especially good with puppies. Earlier this year they had a paw in training 3 - 8 week old foster puppies. How did GABR end up with newborn puppies? WELL...on December 24, 2008, GABR rescued a one year old male and female that had been housed together. Keiko, the female was very pregnant! On January 2, 2009, eight puppies were born into rescue. If it were not for GABR and all the volunteers that pitched in to take care of Keiko, papa and these puppies, they would not have survived and gone on to be loved in their "forever" homes.
This year our Gabby has to work very hard to get to the Waddle. 5 weeks ago, she suffered a herniated disc and became paralyzed in the back legs. After an operation, lots of passive exercises, she is now making twice weekly trips to work out in a water treadmill (click on her video to see how she is doing. If it does not appear at first, click on "view full or larger size") Her goal is to be able to walk by Waddle time. She is going to do her part in raising money for the homeless bassets. But she needs your help. Each year, GABR rescues and places over 300 Basset Hounds in the Indiana and Illinois area. As you can imagine, their vet bills are very large, averaging over $10,000 per month.
Will you please sponsor us in the Illinois Waddle? Our bassets, Manfred, Wegi and Gabby are in training now. We will even send you updates on Gabby's progress. To donate, you simply click on the "Sponsor Me Now" link. Enter your credit card number on the secure page and you're done. If you prefer sending your donation by mail, please make your check out to GABR and mail to Jerry/Sharon Andrews, 2066 W. Macon St., Decatur, IL 62522. And PLEASE forward this on to others that may be interested in helping the bassets. Any amount is appreciated and 100% of your tax-deductible contribution will go directly to rescuing basset hounds. The Andrews' motto:
We Believe! We will Achieve! We will Succeed!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
