As most of you know, this cause is near and dear to my heart.  I was diagnosed with IGA Nephropathy about 5 years ago and received a kidney transplant 2 years ago.  IGAN is incurable and has already started attacking my new kidney.  Even though I was one of the fortunate ones that received a transplant I still deal with my disease every day of my life.  I will continue to need transplants until a cure is found.  I will continue to struggle with the side effects of the powerful medications I will be on for the rest of my life.  I will constantly struggle with keeping my immune system low enough for my body to maintain my new kidney, but high enough to fight off other dangerous viruses.  Your kidneys truly affect so many other areas of your body.  I was misdiagnosed for so many years, it scares me to think how many other people are out there unaware of the kidney disease they may have and that may already be attacking their bodies.
