As many of you know, I'm privileged to sit on the board of Give Kids The World Village (www.gktw.org), a 70-acre, non-profit resort in Central Florida that creates magical memories for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. GKTW provides accommodations at its whimsical resort, donated attractions tickets, meals and more for a week-long, cost-free fantasy vacation.
Give Kids The World has made a promise never to turn away a child in need and to date it has welcomed more than 89,000 families from all 50 states and over 65 countries. But for 70 percent of the year, the Village has over 100 percent occupancy, meaning some families must stay in a nearby hotel rather than at the Village during their Wish Trip. For this reason, Give Kids The World Village is in the midst of the largest expansion project in its history -- doubling in size to accommodate 196 families on-site each week.
I'm reaching out to you because GKTW is thrilled to be partnering with NASCAR driver Tony Stewart, the Joe Gibbs Racing Team and Old Spice to help make dreams, like those of "Princess Alyssa" (see photo at left) come true.
During the August 16th Michigan CARFAX 250 NASCAR Nationwide race, Tony Stewart will be driving the #20 car with a new look (see photo) specially designed by Emily Marsala, a Wish child who experienced first-hand the magic of GKTW. Every donation you make in support of the GKTW car will help create memories -- free from needles and hospitals -- that will last a lifetime.
Many thanks,
Jim
