Thank you for visiting the donation page for the Jim Ray Memorial Century HeartRide! Over the years, we've raised about $70,000 -- this year we're stretching to try to add $10,000 more to give to the American Heart Association for research and education about heart disease and stroke.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. (And if you want to do it the old-fashioned way, send a check -- payable to AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION -- to me at Mark Ray, c/o KSV, 212 Battery Street, Burlington, VT 05401.)
In addition to being a cyclist and a victim of heart disease, my dad also loved technology, so he would be intrigued that his technology-challenged son is using this page and other social media tools to raise funds in his memory.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
As they say in Ireland, may the wind always be at your back -- a headwind when cycling can be a real pain! Thank you.

And here's a story that my daughter Emily wrote for her teacher about filming the video . . .
My dad was shooting a thirty-second video about his one-hundred mile bike ride. It is in memory of his dad, who died of heart disease. He raises money for the American Heart Association. I heard him say in the video that he has raised about $70,000 over the years he’s been doing it. He rides with his friend Steve Gronlund. I think you had Annie Gronlund as a student? She lives in my neighborhood. She used to baby sit my brother and me, before she went to boarding school.
Anyways, my dad took about three hours to film it. First, we had to listen to him saying stuff in the yard; by the way, he kept messing up. Then we had to go to some covered bridge to film Steve biking out, and him biking down the hill. Then we had to go to The Old Brick Store, to film both of them biking around the corner and around the store. They wasted a lot of the tape on that one. They had to wait until all the cars were out of their way. I think my voice, and Jamie’s are both on the tape. After that, we went to this road next to a cemetery, and Steve filmed my dad coming up the hill. He said he also got my brother peeing behind a tree. Then, we had to go to the Charlotte beach, so my dad could talk with a nice background. He messed up on that too. Finally we came back home after that.
