Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
As many of you know, volunteering in Africa has been in my blood and heart since I first went out there in the summer of 04. I decided to take the plunge this year and quit my very well paying teaching job to go and work for no money, and even worse have to pay for it myself, in Rwanda. Ever since the genocide in 1994, the Rwandese have been trying to pull themselves out of the cycle that is poverty; a lot are managing it, a lot aren’t. WorldTeach is a non-for-profit (read charity) organisation run by the International Development Centre at Harvard University. They send out teachers to go and work in developing countries and help in rural village schools. Education is the one proven way to break the cycle that is poverty. I have seen first hand, through my work with the African Children's Choir, what a difference an education can make to a child’s life. We are so lucky to have free access to education in the Western world; I cannot begin to imagine where I would be without it, can you? Please consider donating just £10 (or more :-) if you can) to help me get out to Rwanda and help others.
