September 2, 2008 Dear Family & Friends, Michele and I hope you are well and enjoyed your summer. We are writing to request your help in our fundraising efforts to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis, through the Boomer Esiason Foundation. As you may know, our 17-month-old daughter, Victoria, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) ¬— an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States. There are about 1,000 new cases of cystic fibrosis diagnosed each year with a predicted median age of survival of 37 years. Victoria is doing remarkably well and we want to keep her healthy and help the many other CF patients and their families who are managing this devastating disease on a daily basis. We are joining forces with our dear friends, J and Colleen Pacquin (www.firstgiving.com/colleenpacquing), who will be two of the 36,000 participants in the ING New York City Marathon — running in the name of the Boomer Esiason Foundation. If you don’t know him, J is a close friend from college, and he and his wife, Colleen, are generously giving their time not only raising funds but training for a marathon (they just had their second baby a few months ago!) which they will run as part of Team Boomer. Words can not express our profound gratitude for all of their dedication and hard work. Through our combined fundraising efforts and the Boomer Esiason Foundation we can help provide financial support for research efforts aimed at finding a cure for CF. So, we are asking all of you to give whatever you can afford. You can make your tax-deductible charitable contribution here on this site (easiest way and totally secure) or contact us if you prefer to write a check -- or charge your credit card (but not online). For those of you who work with companies who provide matching programs, we suggest you take advantage of your company’s generosity and make the most of your donation. We thank all of you in advance for your participation in this worthy cause and promise to follow up and let you know how successful we were in our fundraising efforts (and if J and Colleen won the marathon for Team Boomer!). We strongly encourage you to find out more about the Boomer Esiason Foundation and Cystic Fibrosis at www.esiason.org. And please leave us your email address so we can keep you posted on the progress. All the best, John Gill & Michele Roberts
