Dear Friends and Family,
Last August I was invited and privileged to travel with World Vision representatives to tour water development projects in Ethiopia and Kenya, Africa. For centuries this area of the world has suffered from famine, disease, and lack of clean water. World Vision has assembled capable teams that do geotechnical investigation, drilling, and installation of water stations that provide clean drinking water to areas of need.
I toured areas where surface water holes contaminated by the elements and livestock are the only source of water for the people. As I reflect on the seemingly insurmountable challenge for these people and most people in this part of the world, I break it down into simple logic. Clean drinking water is a prerequisite for good health, and good health is a prerequisite for education and development of self-sustainable communities.
So the journey begins. Join me and be blessed by supporting World Vision with your prayers and financial resources. These projects are truly “The Wellspring of Life” in this part of the world. A water station, like the one pictured above that I visited in central Ethiopia, costs about $18,000 and can serve 2,000-3,000 people. I believe it is foundational to helping people so that they can begin to develop a better life and future.
The Lord said to those that are blessed, "whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25:40
I will celebrate each one to you as I run the 2007 Chicago Marathon with Team World Vision.
God Bless You All, John
