Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. All the proceeds from this event stay in the local area to help support families and testing.
Jonathan was diagnosed with Autism in November 2007. He was 4 and a half years old. As early as 2 years old we noticed some quirks but they were all on the high functioning side. He could mimic and recite large chunks of dialouge from shows he had only seen once. He would fixate on episodes of shows or obsess over watching the same movie multiple times a day. He needed a firm schedule or would have meltdowns. Social interactions were always awkward and took lots of adult interventions.
Then we had to make 2 moves in 6 months time due to the Air Force. After those two traumatic incidents everything seemed to escalate. By the time we got to see a child psychiatrist he was spending more time in a meltdown than he was enjoying being a kid.
Through therapy, school, and a better understanding of Autism he has made great strides. He now has friends and can handle minor changes in his daily routine. His obsessions and echolalia (repeating what he hears) still exist but are not as extreem as they once were. We have great hope for his future.
Please consider joining us and the other Moms of Many Spectrums in the walk this year. If you can't walk any donation would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
