First, thank you for visiting my fundraising page!  

As many of you know my name is Karen Willdermood, and in 1997, I was diagnosed with Autosomal Polycystic Kidney Disease with Congential Hepatic Fibrosis-a dual organ disease that affects the kidneys, liver, and other systems of the body. This dual organ disease can be, and is often fatal, but through continuing advancements in modern medicine, the quality of life for those suffering with this disease has been greatly enhanced.  

The  Auto Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease in correlation with Congenital Hepatic Fibrosis (ARPKD/CHF) Alliance is non-profit organization dedicated to bettering the lives of those affected, like me,  with this incurable disease.  Through great strides, and support from people like you,  the ARPKD/CHF Alliance has: 

•  Funded research specific to this disease

•  Lobbied for the largest research study to date: "Clinical Investigations into ARPKD and CHF" through the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. 

•  Developed Bereavement and Regional Support, Clinical Care Guidelines, and the Professional Educational Project.

•  Provided FREE newsletters, educational materials, and public service announcements.

•  Hosted the First ARPKD/CHF Conference

•  Created "A VOICE" for this disease

I am just one of the many faces that is affected by this disease on a daily basis. Many are young children struggling to have a normal childhood in the midst of this complicated disease.  The ARPKD/CHF Alliance has fought very hard to help us maintain a sense of normalcy.   Their ongoing study with the National Institute of Health has given all of us, including myself, tremendous relief by providing us with the doctors, medical tests, and other resources needed to improve the quality of our lives.  Supporting the ARPKD /CHF Alliance allows the Alliance to continue their work and advocate on behalf of those affected.  Currently, there is an urgent need, and I am personally asking you for a small charitable contribution in support.  Please know that no amount is too small-every penny counts.   You can make a secure donation today, right here on this page.
