This September (9/3/09) marks the 10th anniversary of Kristina’s death.  Can you imagine having to live without your child (grandchild, sibling, spouse, loved one, or best friend) for ten years?  It seems like yesterday that Kristina was swimming in the ocean and playing in the sand, her sun-kissed hair blowing in the wind.  It is unimaginable that we have arrived at this date … that we have survived without her in our lives for ten whole years.  One thing is for certain, we have continued on and grown from this tragedy because YOU have loved us, cried with us, and remembered a beautiful girl who was robbed of her future.

For over ten years, you’ve been coming out and supporting us at the Heel to Heal (HTH), walking in memory of Kristina.  Year after year, the dedication you have shown towards raising money to support the programs offered by Embrace Kids Foundation is truly humbling.  Due to your amazing support, Kristina’s Rainbows of Hope has raised over $500,000 for this great charity.  This has been no small feat!  We are so proud that you have chosen to be a part of this spectacular accomplishment.  Yet, more than the money raised, is the HOPE we have been able to give to a family when their child is diagnosed with cancer and their world falls apart. We have given these families counselors to help them navigate through this new life they must endure. We have provided their children with tutors during their treatment.  We have supplied them with a nutritionist to help their children through the rigors of chemotherapy. This is what YOU have helped us to accomplish for over 10 years.  Together, we have truly have made a difference in a child’s life. 

We understand it is a difficult economic climate, and we know there are many families in desperate financial situations. Some of these families will also have to face the devastating diagnosis that their child has cancer.  Whatever donation you can manage to give to help these children and their families would be greatly appreciated.

We hope that you have a wonderful summer and that you are surrounded by the people you love.  Never take for granted the gift that you have – the chance to create memories with friends and family.  Make the most out of every moment.
