As you are aware, I have been fighting cancer for the past eight years. You may be aware that I underwent additional surgery this past November and guess what??  This time the tumor that they removed was benign, so I have actually been cancer free for a year and a half now....I pray daily that this success continues. Thanks to all the wonderful doctors and nurses at the NSMC Cancer Center in Peabody, I am still around to ask you to support me in my annual fundraising efforts.

In the past five years, Team Kathie Mitchell has raised $118,500.00 for the benefit of the NSMC Cancer Center.  Again last year, over 100 members of our team traveled from all over New England to walk the 6.2 mile walk......I am fortunate to be surrounded by the most wonderful family, friends and co-workers.  For this year's NSMC Cancer Walk, Team Kathie Mitchell has set a team goal of $28,000 (slightly higher than the $27,500 we raised last year).  My personal goal this year is to raise $3,000 toward our team goal. All monies raised directly benefit the brand new Mass General/NSMC Cancer Center that is opening in Danvers this June.  All proceeds of this year's walk will support the building of this brand new state of the art facility. 

I know of no better way to express my thanks to the people at the Cancer Center who have stood by my side through this challenging journey. I have a remarkable oncologist in Dr. Weinger, and he and his nursing staff have been supportive and compassionate the entire time. The only way I have to thank them for all they have done for me is to continue to work tirelessly to raise funds for the Cancer Center in the hopes that in time they will come a bit closer to a cure.
