Hello!
As you may know I have committed to running this year's Sydney Half Marathon in September to support organ donation.
"Why cram my long shanks for 15 hours into a middle seat in the back of a plane only to subject my appendages to further torture upon arrival to a foreign land", you ask? I want to learn how to speak Australian and Foster's just isn't cutting it. :)
Jokes aside, running my first half marathon last year was such a positive experience I want to get myself back in training and run for the betterment of not only myself but others too--a goal that is difficult to achieve through running unless you are able to fundraise for a worthy cause. The charity I'm fundraising for, Organs 'R' Us, speaks to me because of people I'm close to who's health has recently been compromised by struggles they have had with either their livers, lungs, intestines, or hearts. As Dave (of the DMB) says, "To change the world, start with one step".
I would greatly appreciate your support of my fundraising efforts by donating to Organs 'R' Us through this website. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
If you prefer snail mail, then you can contribute to my fundraising efforts by writing a check to Organs 'R' Us, 501(c)(3) Tax ID 94-3333306, and sending your check directly to Organs 'R' Us at 570 El Camino Real, Suite 150-330, Redwood City, California 94063. Please write "Kathryn Thorpe" in the memo field of your check so that my fundraising page is credited.
Many thanks for your support, and please send this to anyone who you think might want to donate to such a great cause!
Finally, please discuss organ donation with your family and register to become an organ donor. If you're interested in learning more, or would like to be a donor, please go to www.donatelifecalifornia.org for California residents, or to www.organdonor.gov for all other U.S. residents.
