Meet my beautiful cat Clio. For those of you who are fans of my Cat’s Meow blog on Oregonlive.com (http://blog.oregonlive.com/cats/), you know something of Clio’s antics.
That was 11 years ago – about the same time the Cat Adoption Team opened its doors to help cats like Clio.
I am asking you to donate $11 (or more) in honor of Clio’s 11th birthday to help all the homeless cats and kittens at Portland largest cat-only shelter.
Clio was abandoned at the front door of the shelter where I worked. She was just 4 weeks old. I was lucky to have found her early that morning before the shelter opened and the parking lot became an obstacle course of deadly car wheels for this wee little black kitten.
CAT found homes for 3,250 cats and kittens in 2008; spayed/neutered 2,919 cats to prevent hundreds of unwanted kittens; saved cats from an uncertain fate by transferring over 2,200 from other shelters to find homes at CAT.
This little shelter is an innovator in helping cat owners keep their beloved companion during these unsettling times. The first organized pet food bank is right here at CAT. The Cat Food Bank distributed 5,550 pounds of cat food in just 9 months and the need grows each month with 1,050 pounds distributed in February. The Cat Food Bank is open for 2 1/2 hours one day a month.
CAT's periodic feline Fix-a-Thons provide subsidized spay/neuter services for cat owners in financial need. Appointments for the current Fix-a-Thon for February/ March 2009 filled up in 2 weeks.
Join in the celebration of CAT - Join in the CAT Care-a-Thon with a donation:
- $11 will pay to test one cat for feline leukemia and feline aids
- $22 will help stock a “kitten baby bag” for a foster family
- $55 will neuter five male cats through our subsidized program for families in financial need
- $110 will vaccinate and spay two female cats to keep them healthy and prevent the birth of unwanted kittens
Thanks!
