Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
This fall I will be participating in my third Marine Corps Marathon and my fourth Run for Autism. I will once again be running in honor of my friend Lauren, who suffers from autism. As a high schooler, I worked as a respite care provider for Lauren. This was a life-changing experience for me. Lauren was, and still is, completely non-verbal. It was rare for her to acknowledge me, even when I called her name. I remember being thrilled and moved to tears one day when she ran up to me and gave me a hug. When you are close to someone with autism, these few and far between moments are precious.
Lauren is my inspiration and my motivation--running 26.2 miles is nothing compared to the struggles that she deals with every day. I am excited to be able to apply my passion for running to make a difference for Lauren and the millions of other people with an autism spectrum disorder.
