~Please Help Support a Family in the Oaxaca Dump! ~

My name is Katy Ricci, and I am a high school junior looking to make a difference in the lives of a family living in the Oaxaca Garbage Dump in Mexico. I learned about this charity through a convocation at my school given by Bryan Nurnberger, President and Founder of Simply Smiles. He told us his story of how he got invovled with this work and the stories of the people that he met along his journey.  Simply Smiles not only provides homes for orphaned children, but it also provides homes for the families in the Oaxaca Garbage Dump.

These families survive using anything they can find in the dump. Everyone in these families, young and old, works together to try to survive. After a day in the dump, these families go home to shacks that they built using scraps from the dump. These people live in these wretched conditions everyday, and through my funraising I hope to make a difference for one of these famillies. It only costs $2500 to build a small house for one of the 33 families in need. A house can change a persons's life. It provides protection, security, and comfort, luxuries that we take for granted every day.  

Any donations that you can afford would be greatly appreciated. With these donations, I hope to travel down to Mexico this summer with a group of friends to help build one of these homes for a family in need.
