Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts.
WE DID IT!!!!!! WE ENDOWED A FOUNDATION IN HONOR OF KAYLEIGH! LET THE RESEARCH BEGIN. THANK YOU!
When someone asks, "Why did you participate in Al's Run?" A simple smile and this story will let them know that this is something you don't want to miss out on.
In January of 2005 at 8 1/2 months, our little Kayleigh was diagnosed with a large hepatic(liver) tumor along with several other small tumors. Kayleigh would begin her outpatient treatment through the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. By April 1, 2005 she was re-admitted to the hospital because the tumors had not reacted to the treatment the way her team of doctors had hoped. The doctors and nurses at Children's did all they knew how, with what information was available to them. Kayleigh lost her battle on April 27, 2005 and that is why we need your help. In order for the doctors to find a cure we have to help raise the funding needed for much needed research.
We have taken many steps in the right direction over the last two years. Dr. Paula North, an internationally respected hemangioma researcher has the joined the staff to spearhead the vascular anomolies research. As well the Birth Marks and Vascular Anomolies Center was opened with Dr. Beth Drolet as its medical director. Here children with similar tumors can be treated. Lastly with so much support from so many, The Kayleigh Ali Vascular Anomalies Research Fund was endowed this past year. This fund is our everlasting commitment to help find a cure and to help other children and their families who will encounter these tumors. The child you save could be your own.
Our family and friends have championed the cause of raising funds through generous donations, to help in funding the research of vascular anomolies like Kayleigh's. The last two years have truly been a success. Together we have exceeded our goals. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts especially to all those who have participated with donations, volunteering time and donating resources.
We NEED you again this year!
Every single dollar of your pledges have gone and will continue to go to much needed research to further the understanding of this deadly type of tumor. Kayleigh has left a legacy of information for the doctors to study. Through this fund we will assist in helping to understand that legacy and to identify these tumors in their early stages and ultimately cure those who have them. One child's death is too many. This one just happened to be ours. This will mark the third year of many that our family will participate in the Al's run for Children's Hospital. We hope you will join Kayleigh's Crew 2007. My wife Nicole and I will run the 8K course, while our daughter Kameron participates in the walking event. We personally invite you to join us on Saturday, September 20, 2008 for this years event to help raise funds for such a worthy cause. As well, we ask for your sponsorship in this years event.
To join the team log onto www.alsrun.com and search for Kayleighs Crew.
