I'm dusting off my track shoes and getting ready for The Grateful Dog Walk at WoofStock on Sunday, September 28! This is a fantastic event for animals and animal lovers alike. And, the best part is that it's all for a great cause. The event is sponsored by the Central PA Animal Alliance which is a coalition of over 50 no-kill rescues working toward creating a no-kill community for animals in Central PA. I’m taking part in the Grateful Dog Walk to raise money for Central Pennsylvania Animal Alliance's HOPE Program (Hounds of Prison Education). CPAA partners with the State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill to pair inmates with homeless dogs for training and behaviorial rehabilitation. The dogs come in all shapes and sizes, but they all have one thing in common...hope for a better tomorrow. The inmates begin to help them heal on day one with lots of one-on-one attention and care. They continue training and socializing them until the trainer says their ready for "parole." Thanks to the hard work of the inmate handlers involved in the program, over 50 dogs with very troubled pasts have "paroled" into loving homes. Please consider making a donation to this program through this site. All funds raised directly benefit the dogs in the HOPE Program. You can donate online with a credit card and all donations are secure and sent directly to Central Pennsylvania Animal Alliance by Firstgiving. You'll receive an receipt via email so you'll have a printable record of your donation. CPAA is a 501(c)3 charitable organization so all donations are tax deductible!! Please send my page on to anyone who might like to donate to help homeless and needy animals!
I'll be walking with my very own "parolee," Chloe, who graduated from the program and into my heart about two years ago. She would have been lost without the help of this program and so we'll be walking together to raise money to continue to help other wonderful dogs like her! Thank you so much!
