The Walk is over but you can still donate through my page until Dec 1, 2008.
With it’s roots stemming from an animal rescue case at the Lancaster Stockyards in 1986, the Farm Sanctuary holds a special place in my heart. A vegan for 2 ½ years, my first visit to the Farm Sanctuary in NY in May 2008 solidified my commitment to raising awareness of the truth behind the scenes of factory farming and it’s effects on people and the environment. Each year, hundreds of neglected and abused farm animals are rescued from inhumane conditions, and although many are placed in life-long loving homes, most have a permanent home at the Sanctuary with plenty of food, adequate shelter, proper medical attention, and lots of love.
Even if you are not a vegan or vegetarian, this is an important organization to support. The Farm Sanctuary works hard to pass laws such as prohibiting the use of downed animals (animals that are too sick to walk or stand, but often end up at your grocery store anyway). Eating downed animals puts you at a higher risk for E. coli, salmonella, and mad cow disease. The Farm Sanctuary also works to enact laws so farm animals are given humane living conditions before going to slaughter. The Farm Sanctuary is about rescue, education, and advocacy.
Please consider donating to this important organization. It will help to make a difference to the animals, and depending on your dietary choices, it will also make a difference with the safety of the food that is on your dinner table.

Thank you for helping.
