My personal message:

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

When I was a kid we used to go up to Heartbreak Hill to watch the race.  As the lead pack went by just barely breaking the sound barrier (or at least that's how I remember it), it was hard not to be impressed.  But for me the most indelible memories are those of the runners behind the pack.  It was the men and women with no chance at all to "win" that had me dumbfounded.  Why would they subject themselves to this agony if they were merely going to cross the finish line?  Well as I got older and (arguably) wiser I realized that their respective races had very little to do with "winning"...at least in the traditional sense.  Their races were being run internally, a classic battle between mind and body.  It was more about determination, drive, and taking control of your entire being than it was about medals and the proverbial spotlight.  I have been awestruck by those people as long as I can remember and I promised myself that someday I would be one of those among the tired and broken, willing my way over those famous Newton Hills.

While the running portion of my race is internal and most of you can't really help me...except those few who are training with me, I've been fortunate enough to have been introduced to an organization that has given me another (more external) motivation to run.  MAB Community Services selects a handful of people each year to be a part of their marathon team.  Our goal is to raise awareness and raise money for people who need help.  I could probably go on and on, but that would bore you, so I'll just send you here (www.mabcommunity.org) to get more info.

Thank you so much for your support, and please forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

Ken
