I have some exciting news for you and I am hoping that you might be able to help me out with this. I am now a runner and I have decided to run the 113th Boston Marathon, the most prestigious, most world-renown, and longest running marathon in the world. It is 26miles, 385 yards. There will be between 25,000 and 40,000 runners racing in this monstrous event from all over the world.
It was my acceptance to The Esplanade Association’s Running Team which is allowing me to run this race. I believe in The Esplanade Association and am running for them for this reason as well as its impact on my young life, while living as a student in Boston. I have seen the Fall sun rising over the changing leaves 6am on frosty mornings while rowing for Northeastern University, enjoyed running its 3.5 mile shore while seeing wildlife and sunsets, and have been entertained on our Nation’s Independence Day listening to the Boston Pops and watching magic in the skies.
I have taken from Boston so much and now it’s due for me to pay some of it back. The Esplanade Association is a dynamic nonprofit organization that works to restore and enhance Boston’s historic Charles River Esplanade; one of the most iconic and popular urban parks in the country. It is an advocacy group, provides community enrichment, and executes capital projects; all things that cause job creation in Boston and a place for tourists, residents, families, and friends to enjoy the scenic views, exercise along its’ paved walks, and enjoy free concerts on hot summer days. And, one of the most successfull aspects of the park is the Boston Red Sox baseball diamonds, the nicest public ball parks in the city.
In these days of Economic Crisis, many will turn to our cities parks such as the Esplanade to provide cheap and free entertainment. With budget cuts everywhere the Esplanade will feel further strain. Your donations help them to provide us with an enjoyable place to spend a warm Boston afternoon.
Please help me to be my support group and join me in this cause to raise $3,000 for an under funded, understaffed organization.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
