The Kids In Need Foundation, an organization that, with the support of individuals like you, helps to make the dreams of millions of children come true in the classroom.
Kids In Need provides free school supplies to children whose families cannot afford to purchase them. We hear daily about kids feeling a dream has come true when they receive their first book or how excited they get when they are given new school supplies. Remember getting excited about new school supplies? Like the smell of a new car, the smell of new school supplies conjours up thoughts of . . . possibility . . . achievement . . . success. We can all remember when a sheet of clean, fresh, wide-ruled notebook paper was the starting point for the best book report ever. And that numbers seemed easier to add, subtract, multiply, and divide when your pencil was still long and had a sharp point.
It’s easy to imagine the big dreams of kids: becoming a rock star or a firefighter or a professional baseball player. Sometimes, however, we forget about all the little dreams that consumed us each day. About how having that three ring binder with the Velcro fastener and the picture of Darth Vader on the cover would make everything better in our lives. The children we serve have all of those dreams – big and small – the same as every other child in America.
Of course, most children’s dreams go far beyond the classroom. Removing the barrier of not having school supplies means kids have one less obstacle to prevent them from fulfilling other dreams. So, while the need is immediate, the results of children being able to participate in classroom activities is far reaching.
