Update:  Wylie and Bruce made it safely to the ranch! Thanks to you, they are enjoying daily walks, new smells, and hanging out with their new friends!  We couldn't have done it without your support!

Wylie and Bruce

The story of Wylie and Bruce will touch your hearts. Wylie and Bruce were in a desperate situation at Montcalm County Animal Shelter in Stanton, Michigan.   According to the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, Montcalm Animal control releases a large number of dogs regularly to Class B dealer, R and R Research. R and R Research has sold dogs to several laboratories, including the University of Michigan to be used in their Advanced Trauma Life Support course.  After experimentation, live dogs used in the class are euthanized.

With your tax deductible donation, we can make a difference in the lives of Wylie, Bruce, and others!

Wylie and Bruce were at high risk of being given to R and R Research and sold into research.  Bealges are preferred by researchers.  With the help of local groups,  Wylie and Bruce were pulled from the shelter for Kindness Ranch on February 19.

Frighteningly, according to HSUS, R&R Research has been cited by the USDA for Animal Welfare Act violations multiple times since 1997.

Unfortunately, the story of Wylie and Bruce is shared by many others. We at Kindness Ranch have been deeply concerned by reports about Montcalm, R and R Research, and the fate of the animals at the shelter.

On February 26th, the University of Michigan announced they will not use live dogs in their trauma course. However, R and R Research will continue to take dogs from Montcalm and sell them to other laboratories.

With your help, we can make the difference in the lives of Wylie, Bruce, and others like them! Your donation is tax deductible.  Please make your donation via our Firstgiving site: http://www.firstgiving.com/kindnessranch or by mailing a check to Kindness Ranch Attn: Karen, 854 State Hwy 270, Hartville, WY 82215.  If you are interested in adopting Wylie or Bruce, email Karen at info@kindnessranch.org or phone 307-735-4177.

Wylie and Bruce would not have been helped without the wonderful assistance of some local rescue groups. Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary is helping with quarantine and testing. Grand River Rover Rescue has also been working hard to bring Montcalm dogs to safety.  Others have been working tirelessly to transport the dogs to safety. Check out their efforts online through the links below.

Together, we can work to make a difference in the lives of these wonderful companion animals!
