Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! My name is Kira, and I am a 37 year old resident of Las Cruces, NM. The TMJ/DDS disorder has affected my life so drastically over the past decade, and in so many different ways. My vision has changed 16 times and I have had to go to Albuquerque 45 times (226 miles one way) all in 6 years and I now need a 3/4ths of an inch lift on the bottom of my right shoe. I finally can hold a 40 hour a week job as of recently and am doing so well. I always believed in myself and never gave up no matter how bleak things looked. As a group, TMJ sufferers need a voice and need community/medical/political support in order to finally recognize this horrible disorder as the menace that it is. I would really like to educate the public about the fact that this disorder is more than jaw clicking, migraines, and facial pain- it also damages vision, hearing, breathing, focus, concentration, muscles, hormones, balance, body structure and kinetics, etc. I finally have an Interim appointment with the House of Representatives in August of 2008, in Albuquerque, to try to start to try to pass a law to have TMJ diagnosed with the Tekscan and covered under all medical insurances. Rather than explain my long saga here, please check out my website at http://www.zianet.com/dumais for the details.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! Kira :)
PS: Please inform your family doctors whenever possible about this condition, and refer them to my website above
