Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!
If you are a fan of Hugh Laurie (and who isn’t?), then you are aware of his dedication to the charity Save The Children.
Hugh is serving as an Artist Ambassador and is dedicated to the fight to prevent pneumonia.
Pneumonia kills one out of every five children under five years old in the world and yet it can be prevented. It is the number one killer of children worldwide, and think of this heartbreaking statistic; for every one child that dies of pneumonia in an industrial country 2,000 die in developing countries.
With early diagnosis and proper treatment with antibiotics that cost less than a dollar, their health can improve and lives can be saved. Less than a dollar! Instead of buying your lunch today brown bag it. You can save five or more children for the cost of your lunch.
Hugh said, “I work on a TV show that features the unusual, the bizarre, the unique. But the cases on House are brightly-colored minnows compared to the leviathan of pneumonia." He added that, "It's so big, you couldn't make a TV show about it. But you could change it. So could I. We can and must change it."
Monday November 2nd is World Pneumonia Day. We ask three things of you. 1) Wear blue jeans to signify that you understand that a child dying of pneumonia turns blue when they can’t breathe. 2) Please give what you can to save a child. 3) Watch House and remember that Hugh is in this fight. How about you?
