Description: GIVING SHELTER. The ROAR Donofrio Family Animal Shelter opened in 2006. Our objective is to be a "model shelter" --- the model being the way we treat our own family dogs and cats. Through the generous help of our volunteers, business partners, local veterinarians, and staff, every cat and dog receives the same medical care, nutrition, exercise, attention and love we give our own family animals. Since opening our doors, we have placed more than 1,000 dogs and cats in loving, lifetime homes.
REACHING OUT. Our therapy dogs bring kindness and laughter into nursing homes and put confident smiles on the faces of first-graders in school reading programs. ROAR administers our expanding therapy dog program in conjunction with Therapy Dogs International.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell who benefits more - animals or people. ROAR animals are everywhere in our community: as teachers, caregivers, and just best friends.
Mission: ROAR’s mission is to save lives and change lives through our work:
to promote the rescue,
compassionate treatment, and adoption of abandoned and
surrendered dogs and cats.
to enrich life for both animals and people by enhancing the remarkable bond between them through our programs and projects.
