Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
My name is Laura VanPuymbrouck and I will be running in this year’s Chicago Marathon for the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation (CFCF). As many of you know my mom, Anita, died a few years ago after an amazingly brave battle fought against Carcinoid Syndrome. She demonstrated the true strength and heroism that is only seen in people that have a special drive. Her drive was her dedication to live for her family and her friends. She will always be my hero.
Your kind support will fund much needed research for carcinoid and related neuroendocine tumors. Carcinoid cancer is the term used to refer to tumors that originate in the nerve cells that produce hormones, also known as the neuroendocrine system. CFCF is the leading nonprofit dedicated to discovering a cure for carcinoid cancer.
The strength, determination and unbelievable endurance that my mom displayed day in and day out over months and years of pain can never be matched. When I am running and it gets hard, I know the difficulties are less than .001% the difficulties she was able to confront. I draw on her strength and her love that lives in me every minute and also lives on in her grandchildren. She would be proud to see how much of her strength is in them.
CFCF is unique in that 100% of all donations directly support carcinoid and related neuroendocrine tumors research and are tax-deductible. Please concider donating to my run so that other strong individuals, when diagnosed with Carcinoid can be given an easy cure.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and secure. Thank you for your kind consideration and support for the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation! Run with us to end the suffering of carcinoid patients and their families.
