On March 13, 2010, the Lake County Council on Aging Foundation will present Lake County’s 5th annual March for Meals event at the Great Lakes Mall in Mentor, benefiting senior nutrition programs.
Led by Honorary Chairman Dr. Morris Beverage, President of Lakeland Community College, this indoor March for Meals event will begin with registration at 8:00 a.m. Cost is $10.00 per adult walker and $5 for children 12 and under. The event includes a continental breakfast, goodie bag and musical entertainment. Raffle prizes for those raising pledges, too.
Each year, the Council on Aging provides 115,000 home delivered meals and 59,000 meals at congregate nutrition sites throughout Lake County. The economic downturn has led to an increase in the number of seniors seeking a hot meal. For many elderly adults, these are the only hot meals they eat each day. We need your help to ease the shortage and ensure that all seniors who need meals are able to receive them.
