I lost my mother to suicide when she was 45 and I was 15.
It was when I had my own sons (they are young adults now), and I felt the enormity of my love for them and my desire to protect them from any physical or emotional harm, that I felt the full impact of what had happened to me in losing my mother. It was at that point that I developed the desire to prevent anyone else from having to live with this pain and stigma.
I don't remember when or how I found the Samaritans, but going to SafePlace meetings and the Annual Memorial Service, has been very healing for me. It is incredible to be with a group of people who really understand what I'm going through, and never judge me for the path that my grief takes. I want to support their work to prevent suicide and support those who have experienced a loss.
Thank you for your support.
I have received $70.00 from MBCR employees.
