The 5K Run/Walk to Cure HD is on October 10th

Billy and I work with a small group of volunteers who organize this race each year to raise money for the Huntington's Disease Society of America.  Huntington's Disease (HD) took my dad in 2006.  The funds are for research for a cure and for helping families affected by the disease in Texas. 

Because my father had HD, I have (and each of my 4 siblings has) a 50% chance of inheriting this debilitating disease that would leave us dependent on round-the-clock nursing care to assist us in basic functions like dressing, eating, and bathing. There is currently no real treatment or cure for the disease and in most cases it strikes between the ages of 30 and 50.  We could lose our families and they could lose us.   For me, it could be soon.  As most of you know I have chosen not to test, and to continue to hope for the best, but 50-50 odds and my advancing age make it scary for me and for each of my siblings.  It would be an absolute miracle if none of us got it.
