Who knew? When I first started riding my bike a few months ago, my goal was to ride it to work to save money on gas. Well, since then, I've ridden it numerous times to work in "practice mode" - but actually only to work once - and as many of you know, that of course had to be the time the chain fell off! (There was also the time my brakes froze when I was riding out in the middle of no where, but that is another story.)

One day the Cycle for Shelter poster caught my eye at work and I wondered if I'd ever get to the point where I  could actually finish the 26 mile ride. It was certainly a goal to work towards - keep in mind, when I started I could barely make it to the end of my driveway!

However, I've persevered because I decided that this is something I really want to do. I appreciate the encouragement from everyone who has been checking on my progress. Last week when I was able to ride for an entire hour in a spinning class and then on other days I rode 12 and then 13 miles in one hour (on a stationary bike), it was beginning to look feasible. I'm very proud to report that this past Saturday I rode the entire course plus the distance to/from my house. It took forever, but who cares?

This is not a race. For me, it is a matter of personal growth, plus it gives me an opportunity to support Emmaus, Inc., a most deserving organization. I truly appreciate and am grateful for whatever assistance you can give me to help reach my goal of raising $500. Thank you in advance for your consideration!
