The mission of Special Olympics Nebraska is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendships with their families, and other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Special Olympics Nebraska strives to make sure persons with intellectual disabilities have the chance to become useful and productive citizens who are accepted and respected in their communities. Currently, Special Olympics Nebraska serves over 3,000 individuals ages 8 to 83 in over 110 communities in Nebraska.
