Nationwide, girls make up the majority of our school children yet take less than 17% of advanced placement test in computer science according to the Educational Testing Service.
Girlstart was founded to educate and empower young women in math, science, engineering and technology through hands-on activities and role models.
We collaborate with schools, parents, teachers, industry, higher education and other organizations to provide programs, resources, and strategies to increase the numbers of young women pursuing education and careers in math, science, engineering and technology.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
On Sunday, February 17th, I'll be running the AT&T Austin 1/2 Marathon, in honor of Girlstart, a nonprofit organization that gets girls more interested in math, science, engineering and technology (which are typically male-dominated fields). Many of the girls in the Girlstart program come from a single-parent home, often with five or more people living off of less than $20,000 a year. An interest in math, science, engineering, or technology can give girls the confidence they need to finish high school, the ticket they need to get to college, and a future career that will elevate their economic situation.
Please consider supporting Girlstart and helping me to raise my $800 fundraising target. A donation as small as $13 (which is $1 per mile I'll run), is enough to make an impact in a young girl's life.
Wish me luck! Lindsey
