Imagine living in a world where you couldn't read books to your children. You can't write your own checks, and you are too embarrassed to apply for a job because you can't type or read the job application. This is the life of more than 120,000 people in Shelby County. You can help us change this scary statistic.
At Literacy Mid-South, it only costs $500 a year to teach someone to read. How do we keep costs so low? A staff of seven manages 550 students and 250 volunteers each year. This would be impossible without the financial support of our donors and the strong commitment of our staff and volunteers.
How Volunteers Can Help
If you are a staff member, volunteer, board member, or just an interested party, you can help us raise funds! Volunteers can help raise $500 to support their student in 2013. This event lasts from February 1st to March 31, 2013. Any new donors cultivated by Tutor-A-Thon will have their gifts matched dollar for dollar by our anonymous donor.
How The Community Can Help
You can help by sponsoring a student. Do you know a volunteer, board member, or staff member? Support a student they serve by donating today. If you are a first time donor, your gift will be matched dollar for dollar by an anonymous donor!
Literacy Mid-South is making huge changes this year to the way we do business, allowing to serve even more Mid-Southerners. We need your help to start a reading revolution in Memphis to create a community actively engaged in continuous learning.
