24 HOUR SOCCER MARATHON

The Lonestar Soccer Club, for the third year is again raising funds for children who cannot afford to play youth soccer. New for 2009 we are partnering with the Miracle League at Town & Country to split the monies raised 50/50. Over 1600 children will be involved in this initiative. The purpose of the 24 Hour Soccer Marathon is to educate our children on the importance of investing in the community and giving to charity, as well as ensure that more children can benefit from the positive effects of playing youth sports at all levels.
The Miracle League of Austin is a place where children with disabilities realize opportunities that they thought they would never have. It is a place where children play baseball on their own specialized field, have fun with peers, parents cheer their kids and everyone has a great time. It is a special place where “no” is said to no child.
The Lonestar Champions Foundation has been created with the ideal that every child who desires to become a champion has the opportunity for success, not only on the field, but in life as well. Research has proven time and time again that children who participate in team sports have lower drop-out rates, lower incidence of substance abuse, higher marks in the classroom, and exceptional character development and self esteem than their peers who do not engage in team sports. The impact of participating in athletics is obvious and important in shaping the youth of our community.
Lonestar Soccer Club will play soccer continuously for 24 hours, with each LSC team participating for one (1) hour time slot in a 24-hour period beginning on November 13th at 5:00pm and ending on November 14th at 5:00pm.
Each year we award over $120,000 from the LSC Champions Foundation to over 300 families so that they are able to participate in youth soccer. Additionally, over 120 kids participate in the Miracle League in Austin each season. None of this is possible without our sponsors and donors.
