I want to see a cure for scleroderma so that terrific people like my special friend, Henry Sullivan, can look back enjoying a state of excellent health someday and say, "Remember when I HAD scleroderma?"   But in the mean time, he and so many people like him (including myself) can start benefitting from every medical advancement that comes along! There are many people afflicted with scleroderma but unfortunately there is not enough funding for the research needed to find that cure.

Just last week, the National Institute of Health released information that scientists have found a mechanism that controls the development of autoimmunity. www.nih.gov/news/health/aug2008/niams-13.htm  This could be huge. It could be possible to turn that mechanism back on in the future and I want to be certain there are enough funds to continue with this intense research until a cure is established. This event will help us to progress toward that cure whether or not you choose to donate, join "Team Henry" or just become more knowledgable about scleroderma.
