Thank you for visiting Lou G's fundraising page!
Over the years, I am certain you may have wondered about my appearance. I was affected as an infant by a disease called Neurofibromatosis. it is a genetic disrder which is manifested by the development of benign tumors that grow anywhere on the body. I have been affected with many smaller pea -size bumps all over my body and the more noticeable larger tumors on the right side of my neck and face.
I had multiple operations to try to address this situation. Two of those operations, when I was a teenager, were extremely complicated and dangerous. Great masses of tumors were removed, but I also had a great amount of facial nerve damage at the time.
Despite the disfigurement and the remaining neurofibromas that I exhibit, God has given me remarkable personal health in my lifetime. So now I am embarking on an opportunity to pick up the banner and raise awareness about this disease with my story, and at the same time raise funds for research for a cure.
The CHILDREN'S TUMOR FOUNDATION (CTF) has been instrumental in funding many of the discoveries made in Neurofibromatosis (NF) research. There is a fund-raising effort which I am going to be joining this Sunday, October 19th. A NF marathon team is participating in the Detroit Free Press Marathon. I am a little too out of shape and rickety to be thinking about 26 miles, but I am going to try to walk the 5K event that is going on at the same time.
I am asking for your help to make my effort profitable. Even a few dollars would be a great assistance to the cause. I truly understand that these may be the scariest financial times in our lifetime. But my commitment has begun. As I said , God had been good to me and maybe now I can do some good for other children who have contracted this disease.
So, if you can, please use this website to contribute. Thanking you in advance.
Very Sincerely,
Lou Glubzinski
