Strides for Lupus - A Walk for Lupus Now Event

Strides for Lupus - A Walk for Lupus Now Event

LET'S GET MOVING!!

The 11th annual Strides for Lupus - A Walk for Lupus Now Event is a 1 or 3 mile walk which starts at Mount Mary College and continues through the Menomonee River Parkway. Following the walk is a light lunch and entertainment featuring the band, "Close Enuf".  It offers a chance for the lupus patients, their families and friends to come together to raise funds and awareness of a disease that can be devastating.

Lupus is a chronic non-contagious autoimmune disease that causes inflammation, injury to tissues and pain. The Lupus Foundation of America estimates between 1.5 and 2 million Americans have a form of lupus, but the actual number may be higher. It is estimated 28,000 Wisconsin residents have lupus.  More than 90 percent of people with lupus are women, yet 80% of women in general do not know what lupus is. Symptoms and diagnosis occur most often when women are in their child-bearing years, between the ages of 15 and 45.
