Our personal message:
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! On August 16th I will be running in the Run for Friendship. This is a benefit for The Friendship Club, an organization that helps disadvantaged girls in Nevada County with a year-round program of after-school tutoring, one-on-one mentoring, cultural field trips, peer support, community service opportunities, and a full summer enrichment program. 100% of girls who have completed The Friendship Club program have graduated from high school.

I understand how difficult it can be to grow up in a compromised home environment. My mother became quite ill after my father died when he was only 43 years of age. I was twelve years old at that time. I became involved with my school leadership club, student council, and various sports programs. These programs gave me a sense of purpose and belonging and provided me with the mentorship and role models that were missing at home. They were instrumental in keeping me on track both socially and academically at a tenuous period in my life. I credit those programs, and the people involved with them, for providing the support I needed to stay focused on my school work, to overcome obstacles, and to pursue college and a career that involves helping children.

My goal is to raise $3,000 - approximately half of the annual cost for all programs for each girl. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure, and you will receive a confirmation email for your tax records. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. The Friendship Club receives no state or federal funding. Funding comes from you - so please be as generous as you can. No donation is too small!
