I am excited to announce our first ever "Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma" walk for the Greater North Dallas and Tarrant County support groups of the Texas Bluebonnet Chapter. Our walk will be held at the Grapevine Mills Mall on Saturday, June 28th. We would love to have you join us as we support other scleroderma patients and to help raise awareness about scleroderma.
Scleroderma is a chronic autoimmune disease whose effects can vary greatly from mild to life threatening. I was diagnosed with scleroderma in 1994, and more specifically with CREST, an acronym for the five symptoms.
Calcinosis - painful calcium deposits in the skinRaynaud's phenomenon - poor blood circulation to my hands Esophageal dysfunction - acid reflux and trouble swallowing Sclerodactyly - tightening of the skin on hands and face Telangiectasia - red spots visible on my body
Although scleroderma has effected my daily life, with the grace of God I have learned to adapt so that I can live a normal and fulfilling life. I am grateful for the love, support, and encouragement I receive from my family and friends, without whom I would not be able to say I "Live Well with Scleroderma."
If you would like to learn more about scleroderma, please visit the Scleroderma Foundation's website at www.scleroderma.org. I am a member of the Greater North Dallas support group. The meetings have been informative, educational, and fun. I have enjoyed meeting other scleroderma patients and their caregivers as we support each other through this disease.
As you can tell, this is near and dear to my heart. We are trying to raise funds and awareness. So thank you for visiting my Personal Fundraising Page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
