MARIAN HOUSE 5K RACE TO EMBRACE INDEPENDENCE
Marian House’s third annual RACE TO EMBRACE INDEPENDENCE on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Lake Montebello, Baltimore. Join us for a fun, healthy, family-friendly, and festive neighborhood celebration to highlight the successes of Marian House women. This event includes a 5K Run, 5K Walk, and 1 Mile Family Fun Run managed by Charm City Run. Registration at 8:00 a.m., Warm-Up at 8:45 a.m., and Race at 9 a.m.
Online registration will close Thursday, September 29th, at 12 midnight. If you are interested in registering after the online registration has closed, please come to the event and register there. Please note only cash and checks will be accepted for registration payment on the day of the event. No credit cards will be accepted on the day of the event.
GOAL
The goal of the MARIAN HOUSE 5K RACE TO EMBRACE INDEPENDENCE event is to raise $50,000 for vital housing, food, clothing, education, life skills and employability training, and therapeutic counseling services and programs for Marian House women and their families.
MARIAN HOUSE
In 1982, the Sisters of Mercy and the School Sisters of Notre Dame founded Marian House in response to the needs of women in crisis. On April 12, 2012, Marian House will be celebrating its 30th year of providing housing and support services for women and children. Located in the Better Waverly neighborhood of Baltimore City, Marian House it is an independent, non-profit organization offering transitional and permanent housing and support services to women who were previously homeless and/or who are referred by drug treatment centers, correctional agencies, emergency shelters, and domestic violence programs.

FUNDRAISING INCENTIVES
If we have 500 event participants this year and each participant asks 10 people they know for $10 donations (to collect a total of $100) we will achieve our goal of $50,000. It is doable! Win Top Fundraiser Award. Here are some extra fundraising incentives:

MARIAN HOUSE MONDAY GIVEAWAYS
We are hosting weekly – Monday – giveaways for all who have registered to participate in the event. Some of the prizes include gifts certificates to local restaurants, spas and stores, gym memberships, sporting goods and apparel, and other items. Drawings between August 1 & September 26. Once you register, your name will remain in for all drawings. The earlier you register, the more chances you have to win prizes.
TEAM CHALLENGE
Ask your family, friends and co-workers to run or walk with you as a part of the Marian House Team Challenge. We have a special award for the team with the largest amount of donations collected and one for the team with most number of registered participants.
