MassGeneral Cystic Fibrosis Marathon Team 2009
A Fund Raising Campaign for Cystic Fibrosis
“Brother can you spare a dime?” Well, more like $10. Hello, I’m Mark Buschle and I am working to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis (CF). I am a Northern Kentucky native, and I will be running with the MassGeneral Cystic Fibrosis Marathon Team to raise money for the CF care at Mass General Hospital. You have probably received a similar letter from me in the past few years. This year I have a few twists to my training and to my fund raising process.
After my success with the full marathon in the 2008 Flying Pig, I have decided to run two marathons in 2009. First, on April 20th 2009, I will be running the 113th Boston Marathon. Then, less than three weeks later, on May 3rd 2009, I will be participating in the 11th Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon. Although this is a very difficult task, I am attempting it in an effort to increase awareness of Cystic Fibrosis and inspire the CF patient community. Running both marathons has increased my fund raising goal to $4000.
I know the economy is horrible, so I’m changing my fundraising process. This year, I am taking a page from the recent presidential campaign and asking for a large quantity of small donations. I’m contacting 400 donors and asking for $10. Ok, well, maybe $10.42, including the stamp to mail me a check. Yes, that’s all, Ten Bucks! Brown bag a lunch, skip Starbucks a few times, or order pizza instead of going out for dinner. That is a small amount of money to help make a big impact toward curing CF. Larger donations are always welcome as well.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease affecting 30,000 children and young adults in the United States. A defective gene causes the body to produce an abnormally thick, sticky mucous. This abnormal mucous leads to chronic and life-threatening lung infections and impairs digestion. The fund raising mission is to find a cure! This mission is very important to me, because I have CF.
The MassGeneral CF Marathon Team is a group of volunteer runners. In the previous seven years, the team has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support CF care. I would like to ask you to help me meet my $4000 fundraising goal. Please note, all of the money raised goes directly to the charity. My trip to the Boston marathon is self funded. No donations will be put toward travel, room, or board for my trip.
Making a donation is easy and secure! Just click on the Sponsor Me Now button above to make a donation to my fund-raising page where your donation will be credited to my fund-raising efforts. Any amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you very much for your donation. The money you donate will help the CF Patients in the Boston area. If you are interested in following my journey to completing the two marathons, you can track my progress on my blog.
