My personal message:
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

I've been volunteering with Pet Haven with the cat division since 1995. Before that I was with another group for about 5 years.

One of the first things you begin to recognize when you work with cat rescue is that there are way too many of them. Bishop is an example. A kind woman in Excelsior fed the stray cats who appeared in her yard. She spayed and neutered and placed the kittens as she could. As she grew older, her funds became more limited. She no longer had the energy to care for, alter and try to place all the ones who depended on her. When Pet Haven was contacted, we asked the estate to help with vet costs to alter and re-home. Some of the cats were altered and went to farm settings since they had never been handled. They would be fed, given water and sheltered. Others, like Bishop, started the process of learning to live in a home.

He turned into our special boy. He was a good fit for a family who fostered cats to re-home them since he was very accepting. He let the babies snooze and try to nurse on him.

Bishop was one of almost 70 cats and kittens taken from that yard one summer. It was an overwhelming process. The cycle was stopped in that one yard.

Unfortunately, Pet Haven and all the other rescue groups and humane societies cannot stop the problem on our own. Good intentions aren't enough. We cannot adopt our way out of the problem. We need your help! Can you help? Can you donate the cost of a meal out? Can you donate more? Any donation will help!

One of the exciting things about Pet Haven is that although I joined to re-home animals, I've found we have many other talents. We've had a Spay Neuter Initiative grant process for 4 years. now. We have granted funds, usually no more than $1,000, to many other groups who are trying to stop this overwhelming and tragic problem where they live. Every year we receive reports and this year especially we have received some of the most heartwarming, grateful thank you notes that you could imagine. By making small grants, we have helped communities reach out to owners of dogs and cats, feral cats and have helped them to begin to control their overpopulation problems.

The fight isn't over. We have many battles to win and with the help of everyone, no matter how small the donation, we can make large strides.

Help us to help those who cannot help themselves. Help us save them from needless euthanasia because of overpopulation, help us to rescue and re-home, help us to save them one by one so there are warm pillows and sunny windows for all of the animals.
